Architectural shingle

The workhorse of American roofs — dimensional shingles from leading manufacturers, rated for high wind and algae resistance, in colorways that flatter the house instead of shouting at it.

Standing-seam metal

The fifty-year roof. Concealed fasteners, clean vertical lines, and a finish that laughs at hail season. Costs more once; costs nothing for decades.

Repair & maintenance

Flashing, valleys, pipe boots, wind-lifted shingles, mystery leaks. If a repair genuinely solves it, that's what we'll quote — see promise #3 of the Kingbird Standard.

The system underneath

A roof is what you can’t see.

Shingles get the credit; the system does the work. Every Kingbird roof includes the layers that decide whether water gets in ten years from now.

  • Decking inspected board by board — rot gets replaced, not covered
  • Ice & water shield at eaves, valleys, and penetrations
  • Synthetic underlayment — not thirty-year-old felt paper
  • New flashing at every wall, chimney, and pipe — reusing old flashing is how leaks come back
  • Ridge ventilation sized to the attic, so shingles don’t cook from below
Read your roof

Eight signs it's time.

You don't need a ladder for most of these. Two or more? Book the free inspection — worst case, we tell you your roof is fine.

  • 20+ years old — builder-grade shingles rarely make it past 20 in Texas sun
  • Granules in the gutters — your shingles' armor, washing away
  • Curling or cupping shingles — visible from the street on a sunny afternoon
  • Missing shingles or exposed tabs after wind events
  • Repeated repairs — the third leak is a message, not a coincidence
  • Daylight or moisture in the attic — check on a bright day
  • Sagging ridge or wavy planes — decking asking for help
  • Neighbors replacing — same builder, same year, same hail history
Material honesty

Every shingle we'd put on our own homes.

And one we wouldn't: we don't install 3-tab shingles. They're shown here so you can see what you're comparing against when a cheaper bid arrives.

Straight answers

What a roof actually costs.

Published ranges for typical US single-family homes. Your size, pitch, and decking set the real number — which you get in writing, free, after a 21-point inspection.

ProjectTypical rangeWhat moves the number
Architectural shingle replacement$9,000 – $16,000Roof size, pitch, tear-off layers
Designer / impact-rated shingle$14,000 – $22,000Shingle class, hail rating, complexity
Standing-seam metal$18,000 – $38,000Panel gauge, seam profile, roof cuts
Roof repair$400 – $2,500Access, flashing scope, decking condition

Ranges reflect typical mid-2026 pricing for single-family homes and include tear-off, disposal, and the full system layers above. Storm-damage projects are usually priced through your insurance scope instead.

Dawn Patrol

After the storm, we fly first.

Kingbirds start their day before sunrise — so does our storm crew. If hail or wind hit your neighborhood, here’s how it goes:

Inspection at first light

We walk the roof, photograph every impact and lifted shingle, and give you an honest read on the damage so you can decide whether to file.

Emergency protection

Active leak? We tarp and seal the same day so a bad week doesn’t become a ruined ceiling.

Adjuster, met

We produce a photo-documented scope of work and are on the roof when your adjuster inspects — so every bit of damage is on the record.

Roofing questions

Asked before every roof.

How much does a roof replacement cost?

Most single-family homes land between $9,000 and $16,000 for architectural shingle, $14,000 to $22,000 for designer and impact-rated lines, and $18,000 to $38,000 for standing-seam metal. Size, pitch, tear-off layers, and decking condition move the number. Our ranges are published above — and your exact price goes in writing after a free inspection.

Do I need a repair or a full replacement?

Under 15 years old with isolated damage? Usually a repair. Widespread granule loss, curling, repeated leaks, or 20+ years of age? Replacement is usually the better spend. Our 21-point inspection gives you a straight verdict either way — if a $600 repair fixes it, that's what we'll tell you.

How long does a roof replacement take?

Most asphalt shingle roofs are torn off and rebuilt in one to two days. Standing-seam metal typically takes three to five. Your quote includes the schedule, and your project lead updates you daily.

What roofing materials do you install?

Architectural and designer asphalt shingles from leading manufacturers, plus standing-seam metal systems. Every roof goes on as a complete system — ice and water shield, synthetic underlayment, ventilation, and all-new flashing.

Will you work with my insurance company after a storm?

Yes. Dawn Patrol documents the damage with photos, tarps anything urgent, and produces a scope of work for your adjuster — and we’re on the roof when the adjuster inspects, so the damage is fully documented.

Can you install new shingles over my old ones (a layover)?

We don't do layovers, and we'll tell you why when someone else quotes one: they trap heat, hide decking rot, void most manufacturer warranties, and make the eventual tear-off cost more. A roof over a problem is still a problem.

What is a Class 4 impact-rated shingle, and is it worth it in DFW?

Class 4 is the highest impact rating a shingle can earn (UL 2218 — surviving a 2-inch steel ball drop). In North Texas hail alley it usually pays for itself: Texas insurers typically offer premium discounts for impact-rated roofs, and the shingle is far more likely to survive the next spring storm season without a claim.

How do I know if my roof has hail damage when nothing is leaking?

You usually can't from the ground — hail bruises granules and cracks mats in ways that leak months later, after your claim window narrows. That's exactly what a free Dawn Patrol inspection is for after any storm: photos of every impact, and an honest verdict on whether a claim is warranted.

What does the Crown Warranty cover on a roof?

Our workmanship, for as long as you own your home — transferable once to the next owner. Manufacturer material warranties apply on top. If our installation ever fails you, we fix it.

While the crew’s up there — windows and siding bundle for less. One crew, one warranty, one clean week.
